Welcome to Becoming Academy! I am Lauren, a certified life coach specializing in productivity and time-management coaching. Here we value honest communication and are dedicated to helping clients become who they aspire to be. We believe that everything you need to define your passions, live in your purpose and reach your goals is already within you.

Therapy vs. Coaching

It’s important for prospective clients to know that I will help you prioritize and find balance in your day-to-day lives. Many of our clients are already successful people who want someone who is both willing to listen and provide honest, sometimes blunt feedback. However, life coaches are NOT therapists. Therapy works towards understanding why a person is behaving in particular ways in order to come to a place of mental wellness. Coaching is more geared towards how a person can make behavioral changes to reach a particular goal.

I help clients achieve a more fulfilling life, rewarding career, or effective interaction with others. Therapy digs into the past in order to establish the roots of current issues, while life coaching occasionally explores a client’s past, but does so in order to recall successes and sources of inspiration. Life coaches start in the client’s present and work with them toward a better future.

Why I Decided To Become a Coach

I became a certified coach because I wanted to help people who what to move forward with their lives. As a successful former college basketball player, and current sports’ analyst and producer, I am accustomed to listening, asking questions and giving feedback. I never thought life coaching would become a passion. Given my background, it seems like I’ve been motivating and helping people in my life achieve personal goals long before I knew what life coaching was. I never spent time talking to people about their problems. I gave them practical, proactive advice to create the life they want.
